Hello! My name is Katie Taranto,

and I am a D.C.-based reporter by way of eastern Pennsylvania.

I have reported on public K-12 education, elections, local government, business and lifestyle stories for digital and print news publications in Missouri and Northern Virginia.

I graduated summa cum laude from the University of Missouri in May 2024 with bachelor's degrees in journalism and political science.

 

There, I spent four semesters as a reporter and assistant editor for The Columbia Missourian, a nonprofit community newsroom. 

 

My school board election reporting was recognized in the Missouri Press Association's 2024 Better Newspaper Contest. ​​​​​
